Remain

This piece was my first attempt to combine instruments with electronic sounds. I had already tried to make some instrumental music but was never very pleased with the result. By chance and fortune I had the unlikely chance to "borrow" the Swedish Radio Orchestra for fifteen minutes in between rehearsals. I had jotted down some very basic things and had it recorded in a rush without any clear idea what I could use it for. Afterwards I made other recordings with some musicians I knew and I played some piano stuff myself. During a one month stay in the north of Sweden where the sun showed up at the horizon for about twenty minutes a day, I sat with my Revox tape recorder to cut and splice the instrumental recordings together with electronic sounds I had made at EMS (Electronic Music Studio of Stockholm). The result was a rather strange piece that I already knew was never going to be performed, at least not with a real orchestra. I didn´t mind though since I learned some important things along the way. The title still remains a mystery....

The recording is DBX encoded software decoded and sounds less than fantastic.
