Strata
Strata is a composition based on a variety of percussion instruments ranging from orchestral instruments such as kettle drums and vibraphone to non western instruments like tablas and indonesian gamelan. This is the first time that I am partly using a new synthesiser with extended control of instrumental gesture control to create more natural and dynamic expression of playing styles and techniques. From a more or less ”classic” style of flowing gestural compositional style, the piece develops towards the intense rhythmic end.
