String quintet #1
This piece was a gift from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music to the new concert house in Uppsala, Sweden. It was composed for the Uppsala Chamber Soloists. And what can I say? Sometimes music is simply music in its most direct form. No concept, no second thoughts... It was however a challenge for me since I did not incorporate any electronics whatsoever. For good or bad it came out as a very traditional piece with little or no attempt to make it in any sense “original”. Did I have fun creating this piece? I really don´t know, but I did learn one or two things about composing for strings and I learned to deeply respect the great works of other composers who have treated this kind of ensemble in such delicate and dexterious ways.
